Kangana has got a history of acing all sorts of unconventional roles on screen. Tanu a.k.a Tanuja Trivedi from 'Tanu Weds Manu' is one of her many prominent works that added life to an existing bland image of Bollywood's portrayal of every other small town girl.

Even though it seems pretty unrealistic but who wouldn't want to get drunk and pass out when your parents want you to marry an otherwise boring surgeon? I DO NOT BLAME HER !!!

I fell in love with character during the song 'Sadi Gali' , Tanu's euphoric expressions make us all wanna grove to those beats every time the song comes up. The joy on her face as she cheers up Deepak Dobriyal who plays Pappi a.k.a R Madhavan's friend, creates a vibrant energy and watching her enjoy her job created a very snappy vibe for the viewers.
Tanu is explicit and has got romeos all over the town. She wouldn't think twice before committing any stupid stunt. Hell! She got her husband locked up in a mental asylum in London and returned to India. She has no time to shed on what people think and say.
“My character in the film is not glamorous. She is audacious but very lovable character. She is from a very cultured Kanpur family, who has studied in Delhi University." says Kangana.
Although she was blunt but she didn't make a bad point, not once! She is basically very rational and she ain't shy proving it. She is unlike any other middle class brown girl who doesn't fear the patriarchal norms set up by her family and social surroundings. She isn't intimidated by anyone ! Walking around like a time bomb ready to blast any minute. She paired up with her goon tenant and goes all bat shit crazy over the town.

In the sequel of the movie, Tanu came back home, she arrived on a rickshaw and guess whose rickshaw was it ? Her Ex-Boyfriend's!(Had a a bit of a sob backstory but seemed pretty funny at the moment)
If this doesn't crack you up, then you've got more coming your way. Himanshu Sharma's creativity goes beyond cliches where he directs a series of scenes where Tanu would visit all her Ex-Boyfriends. She might seem like a jerk to the majority but what most of us easily ignored was the motive behind it. She doesn't mean to create a ruckus in their lives and disturb them. But all she wanted was to make peace and more importantly to identify what went missing in her life, what has changed and what was her life like before she gave up everything and just moved to another country with her husband.
What makes this character more appealing and empowering is her willingness to amend her mistakes but at the same time not compromising her persona which makes her a complete rebel.
Be it blockbusters like Queen or her recent work Panga, Kangana Ranaut has always promoted personalities who do not encourage being so indulged in their partner or significant other that they lose themselves. It is just not worth it. Her characters always laid an emphasis on Individuality of a person. This might not be a wildly discussed issue but I think we need a healthy debate about this concerning issue where people think one should dedicate their entire life taking of their loved ones.
Let me know what you think about this in the Comment's section ?
I think the writer couldn't have put it in any better words. Short yet says a lot.
